WATCH: OUCH! Brandon Phillips Hit Umpire In A Sensitive Area!
Here's one replay umpire Brad Myers will never want to see. During the second inning of Monday's spring training game between the Cincinnati Reds and Cleveland Indians, Myers took a screaming line drive to the groin area. Even on St. Patrick's Day, nobody wants to get hit in the shamrocks.
It came off the bat of Brandon Phillips so quickly that Myers, who was positioned behind the pitcher's mound as part of a three-man umpiring crew, didn't have time to fully get out of the way. He jumped, but didn't manage to avoid contact.
While there's something about a man getting hit in his most sensitive of areas that's inherently funny (if it's not you, of course), the scene on the field Monday was also pretty scary. Myers was on the ground for several minutes. He got up and tipped his hat to the crowd, but was ultimately was carted off the field for a medical inspection.
