WATCH: Jimmy Kimmel’s Hologram Hosts Special Show After CMA Awards, Interviews Kacey Musgraves
“Jimmy Kimmel Live” celebrated Wednesday’s CMA Awards with a special “cross-country” simulcast, featuring the show’s host Jimmy Kimmel doing his show live from its usual Hollywood studio while also appearing as a hologram in Nashville!
Through the wonders of technology, Kimmel managed to be simultaneously in California and “on stage” at the CMA Theater in the Country Music Hall of Fame. Kimmel noted, in the video below, that he was “making TV history” by beaming his live hologram to Nashville and then back across the country to Hollywood.
After Kimmel’s hologram first appeared in the CMA Theater in Nashville, Kimmel cracked, “I’m either a hologram or I died and I’m haunting this theater.” He then went on to say that “Nashville is such a great town. My hologram has been having a blast. Last night, they found my hologram passed out in the alley behind Tootsie’s.” Joining Kimmel also via hologram was his sidekick Guillermo, dressed as Princess Leia.
The show’s first guest, Julie Bowen, was interviewed by Kimmel in the flesh in L.A., while his second guest was CMA Award winner Kacey Musgraves, who was interviewed in Nashville by Kimmel’s hologram. Musgraves first commented on how she was “feeling futurist” for being interviewed by Kimmel’s hologram. The two then tried to do a virtual high-five, and the singer even asked if she could virtually pick his nose. Kimmel then “touched” Musgraves hair, which was a trending topic on Twitter earlier because it was, as she said, “pretty big.”
When asked what it was like for Musgraves to perform at the CMAs with the legendary Loretta Lynn, the young singer admitted that her “panties fell off.” Kimmel ended the segment by shrinking Musgraves’ hologram. The interview is like nothing you’ve ever seen before, so check out the video below, and tell us what you think!
