R5 Talk Success, Perform '(I Can't) Forget About You,' and Cover OneRepublic
Pop-rock band on the rise, R5, stopped by On Air with Ryan Seacrest on Thursday morning to not only talk about their success and playing Wango Tango, but they also performed two songs in-studio!

The band — brothers Ross, Riker, and Rocky Lynch, sister Rydel Lynch, and their pal Ellington Ratliff — were still riding high following their appearance on American Idol on Wednesday night.

As for how they became a band, Riker, 22, explains: ”We’ve been performing ever since we were little. Growing up, my dad played a ton of Bruce Springsteen and Elvis, and I basically wanted to be Elvis and Michael Jackson … and these guys would just follow me around,” he adds with a laugh.

After R5 pulled off a pretty impressive cover of OneRepublic‘s “Counting Stars,” Ryan surprised them with the honor of opening Wango Tango — which is May 10 at the StubHub Center — on the main stage, in addition to also playing the outdoor Village stage … and to say they were excited would be an understatement!
