One Direction Fans React To Zayn Malik Death Hoax

One Direction member Zayn Malik has become the latest victim of a death hoax.

Fans of the British boy band are reacting with anger after a hashtag reading "#RIPZaynMalik" started trending on Twitter Monday night. Confusion spread for hours online, and while the star himself hasn't acknowledged the hoax, he sent out an unrelated tweet on his personal account seeming to indicate his safety.

The rumor is thought to have been started by a Twitter user looking to prank the boy band's massive following ahead of April Fool's Day.

Meantime, One Direction is preparing to kick off its "Where We Are" world tour. The trek will kick off at the end of the month in South America before arriving in the U.S. in August.
