Kim Kardashian falls flat while channeling Audrey Hepburn
(Yahoo!) - There's no competing with the classic image of Audrey Hepburn riding a bicycle, but that didn't stop Kim Kardashian from trying.
The "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" star, 33, was spotted channeling Hepburn on the set of a Miami photo shoot on Tuesday. In the photographs, Kim is wearing Audrey's signature ensemble of a black turtleneck, cropped pants, and ballet flats, and has her hair pulled back into a chic ponytail. She even sported a pair of faux bangs in an attempt to really nail Hepburn's look.
The original photograph of Hepburn tooling around on a two-wheeler was taken on the set of her 1954 film "Sabrina." In the flick, the British actress-turned-Hollywood darling plays a chauffeur's daughter who transforms herself from a lonely Long Island, New York, girl into a Parisian knockout. When she returns home, two brothers played by Humphrey Bogart and William Holden vie for her heart. The image of Hepburn cycling around on her bike is synonymous with her lengthy career in Tinsletown.
Obviously, filling Audrey's dainty ballet flats isn't easy and Kim fell a little flat — literally. The reality queen tumbled onto her back after she flew off of her bike and was sent sailing onto the pavement during the shoot to promote what looks to be Hype energy drink. Since no one rushed to help her up, we're guessing the crash was staged.
Emulating iconic screen sirens is nothing new for Kim. She's likened herself to greats like Elizabeth Taylor, Sophia Loren, and Marilyn Monroe in the past. In 2012, Kardashian tweeted a series of photographs from a shoot where she rocked Loren-style bouffant waves and several dazzling dresses. She even captioned the snaps, "Finding my inner Sophia Loren."
Hepburn was a likely next target for Kanye West's main squeeze to imitate. Like Sabrina, Kim has been spending tons of time in Paris as she plans her nuptials to the "Yeezus" singer this spring.
While measuring up to Hepburn isn't easy, the tailored, classic, simple attire is a refreshing wardrobe change for Kim who typically turns to revealing, embellished numbers.
Hopefully, she'll continue to draw inspiration from the legendary actress and, at the very least, follow her style advice since Hepburn once said, "My look is attainable. Women can look like Audrey Hepburn by flipping out their hair, buying the large sunglasses, and the little sleeveless dresses."
