Katy Perry adds some country to her pop with the help of Kacey Musgraves
Two worlds collided Friday night (April 18) when one of the biggest pop stars on the planet, otherwise known as the Teenage Dream Queen Katy Perry, teamed up with one of the boldest, grooviest newcomers–that’d be Kacey Musgraves–to create a truly magical moment. As part of CMT Crossroads (a venture that mixes together artists of vastly different backgrounds and stylistic tendencies), the two singers performed each other’s songs to marvelous results.
A few of the tunes Musgraves and Perry performed were “Follow Your Arrow” (found on the former’s Grammy-winning album Same Trailer Different Park), “Teenage Dream” and “Roar,” as well as a cover of Dolly Parton‘s classic hit “Here You Come Again.”
The segment, to air on CMT June 13 in celebration of the series 50th episode, was filmed at the Sony Pictures Studios in Culver City, Calif.
This summer, Musgraves will join Perry’s Prismatic World Tour for a slew of dates. The two bombshells have already written songs together, could this new collaboration be the next step for a blockbuster genre-bending hit? We sure hope so.
